The impressive No. 2 Trestle Bridge, featuring a steam locomotive in action, dates
to around 1900.
Seven trestle bridges were constructed as part of the extension of the Noojee
railway line, which branched off the main Gippsland line at Warragul station and ran
through Neerim and Nayook. This railway line was developed to support the timber
industry in the upper Latrobe River area.
Construction of the trestle bridges began in 1915. On March 27, 1917, a 13-
kilometre extension from Neerim South to Nayook was opened, ascending from an
elevation of 204 meters to 440 metres.
Work continued the final 8km section into Noojee, which was completed and
opened in April 1919.
