Noojee & District Historical Society Projects<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The society was formed in 2006 by residents of Noojee, Baw Baw Shire, who were passionate to ensure that the rich heritage of the area was researched and that all the\u00a0information and historical items of interest they could gather could be made available for the enjoyment of the wider community and visitors to the township.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The vision was to exhibit local items of historical interest, establish a multi-faceted heritage centre\u00a0that would\u00a0provide a showcase for historical artefacts, deliver an historical educational facility and to recreate the spirit of past times.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Initially, the society undertook a number of diverse projects in Noojee, including the provision of historic artefacts for the Ralph Cornwall Tramway Walk, the installation of interpretive signage and the construction of a car park for the Noojee Trestle Bridge Rail Trail.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

By 2014, grant funding, donations, sponsorships, and the determination of the membership, enabled the society to acquire a heritage steam locomotive for a static display\u00a0and to build a replica of the century-old Noojee railway station to house historical\u00a0exhibits.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Noojee and District Historical Society looks forward to welcoming you to the heritage centre, which is open most weekends and public holidays from 12 noon to 4pm.\u00a0<\/p>\n

There is ample parking opposite the heritage centre in School Road, which is found 200 metres on the left past the Noojee Hotel, heading from the town towards Mount Baw Baw.<\/p>\n
